Mobile operator and Internet Service Provider, O2 has introduced a new technical support service for its mobile broadband customers. For customers who are not technology savvy, O2 Tech Support will help solve technical issues related to removing bugs from the system, setting up software, sending emails, formatting hard drives etc.

Most customers are not computer specialists who can handle every aspect of the systems they work on. Hence, they need professional help that O2 promises to provide with through its team of technical experts.

Technical support from O2 mobile broadband will come with certain charges. Customers will have the option of paying a monthly charge of £7.34 for a minimum of three months or they can pay £14.69 onwards for pay-per-use. The interesting feature of the one-off service is that subscribers will not be charged if the technician cannot fix the glitch.

Jonathan Earle, head of Pay Monthly at O2 remarked that customers want an ISP to not only provide its usual service but also technical support in cases of urgent need. It is here that Tech Support will provide value to the customers, he added.

It is to be remembered that O2 Tech Support is a full technical support service and not its broadband support service that it will continue to remain free of cost. But one hopes that cases of broadband related quires being diverted to the chargeable Tech Support service does not happen.
