You couldn’t describe me as downright happy being bored with most men (who isn’t?) and not crack a smile. However, I’m not uncomfortable in that way, either. I merely bring it up here as a delicious little tidbit introducing what I am about to unravel!

A week ago today I met for coffee with Corey, pondering about buying a membership to Great Expectations Dallas. Today, I type to the blogosphere as a surprisingly pleased member of the dating service. No kidding, I am. I like it! If you know me at all, you’re probably thinking, “Stop blabbering and tell me about it already.”

Well, I looked at this Great Expectations Dating site and felt encouraged. They’re for the honest singles who think dating should have a point.

Because in all honesty I’d never been interested in this silly social phenomenon most people have christened “Dating.” I heard it more than you know. Each night people pester, “You’re still single? ” and “Please tell me you two are dating.”

“Nonsense,” I reply, without missing a beat. “Have you seen what’s out there?”

“Whatever doofus,” they level with me. “You have no way to know that!”

That’s just my sister (she’s the best) (hehe) Stacey Feldman. She pours reality directly to my core 99% of the time. People never fail to offer perspective. No countering that, so I signed up.

Returning to the point of this blog entry. As I browsed from thousands of outfits (hah) and desirable, honest singles for my first Great Expectations date, something occurred to me that was quite true. Over the last year, I hadn’t allowed myself any figurative great expectations for dating in the adventurous path of being alive. Single life has its perks, specifically if you use the freedom to date. Embracing your own great expectations does wonders for a caring soul.
